2017: Marvin Booker Was Murdered, earned the prestigious Soul of Southern Film Award from the Indie Memphis Film Festival. The movie unveils how before being booked into the Denver Detention Center at 4am, all Marvin Booker wanted to do was get his shoes. But instead, received a beating, so heinous, by five Denver jail guards that they killed him. In the middle of the jail’s booking area and in front of more than 20 detainees.
Incredibly, none of the five jail guards lost any pay, nor their jobs. The movie captures a milestone moment of Denver civil rights history. It is not available for screening. It is available for in person education or in person screenings.
