Shorts Package: Colorado Homegrown Shorts

Note: Please read the description of the documentary films in each package. What we curate can be a roller coaster ride. Shorts are like complicated poems and we want our audiences to be challenged.

Balloon Boy ( Dir.’s Brian Gersten, Arlin Golden, 17mins), On October 15, 2009, America watched with rapt attention a large balloon float through the skies of Colorado on live TV. The Great Delusion (Dir. Beth Johnson, 7mins), The Great Delusion is a video essay investigating the commodification of nature in Western culture. The Nest (Dir. Connor Gawkoski, 13mins) is a documentary short film about the impact of a unique tattoo studio, “The Nest Art Collective”. Underground Sound: Denver’s Modular Synth Scene (Dir. Joseph Brown, 8mins) is a short documentary that focuses on the modular synthetic music scene in Denver. Bicycle Island (A donde nos lleva), (Dir. Mitra Elena Ghaffari, 22mins) A contemporary mosaic of Havana explores the bicycle as a reclaimed mobility tool and critical resource for the future of the island. Later this Evening Episode (Dir. Jessika Laurel, 4mins) Ever wonder why you are not getting the best quality and the most beautiful things? Heartbreak Country (Dir. Mitra Elena Ghaffari, 22mins) explores attempts by the non-profit organization Operation Identification and the South Texas Human Rights Center to locate, exhume, and identify the dead from this heartbreaking humanitarian crisis.
