Denver Documentary Society Summer Camp III Ages 8-12: Sound + Vision Music and Art Expressions from the Community

Denverdocsoc Media is Lit Camps are unique STEAM camps that intersect documentary, research, media literacy, creativity, art & critical thinking into stories. Where students will learn as much about themselves as they will about those they tell a story about.

Camps are four days a week Monday through Thursday. Ages 8-12 attend from 1pm-4pm. Over two consecutive weeks.

Inquisitive Documentarians aged 8-12: Will “pair-up” to become independent documentary filmmakers who create a short film around Sound + Vision Music and Art Expressions from the Community. Our filmmakers will learn techniques in videotaping, lighting, sound and editing as each pair produce a short film on our topic.

Camps are taught by award-winning social justice earning filmmaker and long time young student educator Wade Gardner (From 2008 – 2020 he owned & taught art at Artful Journey School of Art). Upon having to close his art teaching studio due to the pandemic. In 2022 he founded the Denver Documentary Society and is thrilled to get back to teaching ages “five to tweens.” He wants parents to know that his approach is to lead, teach and engage attendees with a master’s degree level of wonderment and accomplishment, that he is ready to share.
